A Warm Welcome by the Water
Riverside Tearoom first opened 18 years ago after the owners, who first ran river trips around Havergate Island, noticed that there was no coffee shop or place for people to rest after exploring the gorgeous countryside in front of us. And so, Riverside Tearoom was born.
The River Ore is the last part of the River Alde, which runs through Suffolk. There are several different boat trips available, including a 1-hour ferry around RSPB Havergate Island, a natural reserve home to a variety of native birds, or the official National Trust ferry which can take you out to spot some of the local wildlife and inform you of Orford’s rich history and role during World War 1 and World War 2. There is also the Lady Florence River Cruise Restaurant, which offers calming trips on the river with fine breakfast, lunch and dinner options available.
In the main village of Orford, you can find Orford Castle which dates back to the 12th century and is set amongst some lovely countryside walks. Tours are available for groups or you can book tickets online or pay at the gate.
